So I’ve got this 2021 Model S and I’m itching to jazz it up a bit with some strip lighting in the trunk. Here’s the thing though – the trunk light is on the lid, not on the sides. I’m kinda lost on how to wire it. Any idea if there’s already wiring for side trunk lights, or do I have to start cutting and splicing into the existing setup?

A pretty straightforward install. You just need to pull back the carpet near the puddle lights and connect the strip light to the existing wiring. Sounds much easier than some of the other mods I've seen people do.

Adding strip lights is a great idea, it’ll make the trunk so much more functional. The existing trunk light wiring should work as a power source. For wiring, the easiest method would be to tap into the existing trunk light wiring on the lid. You can use quick-connect clips or wire taps to avoid cutting into the factory setup. If you want a cleaner look, run the wiring along the trunk liner to the sides. Just make sure to use adhesive-backed LED strips that won’t damage the interior when removed.

If you manage to do the job, I would appreciate to make it for me, too, haha!
